WCC Member success at Wangaratta!

The Clubman Nationals wound up last weekend, and for those of us who drove our clubbies down from Qld it was a terrific run with lots of great roads.

All in all this was a great event. The drivers had a great run around Winton raceway, despite the slightly unseasonal 32 degree day (probably even hotter on the track), and the excursion up Mt Buffalo by drivers and partners the next day was a terrific run. Not content with tackling one mountain on the day, many ventured further afield to Mt Hotham and Mt Beauty. All great runs, and capped off by a BBQ at the Wangaratta Turf Club that evening.

The formal events were rounded off by the Show and Shine at a nearby park yesterday, thanks to the support of the local branch of the Lions' Club, and the Nationals wound up last night with the usual gala dinner and awards presentation.

I'm very pleased to say that the WCC and Queensland generally was well represented this year. Of the 160 people who attended, around 36 were from Qld, and no less than 16 of the 88 cars. Pretty impressive!

Even more so was the fact that WCC members took out the two major Show and Shine awards: Ray Williams was awarded Best in Show for individually constructed vehicles (ie from the ground up, not from a kit etc), and Bruce King took out the "big one" - the people's choice award for Best in Show. Just the icing on the cake for our group! Congratulations to you both once again, guys.

The Canberra group has consented to run the 2017 Nationals, which is likely to be centred around Jindabyne. It was held there a couple of Nationals ago and was such a success that there was very strong support at last night's dinner for it to be held there again. Can't wait, personally! There is no information yet on the 2016 NotheNationals but as soon as we hear anything we'll let you know.
