Caboolture Warplane Museum - The Westfield Way

DESTINATION: Caboolture Warplane Museum, Hangar 104, Caboolture Airfield, McNaught Road, Caboolture (ph 5499 1144)

GETTING THERE: There are a couple of ways of doing this, one is the short and boring way (about 45 km up the Bruce Highway from the Brisbane GPO) the other is the Westfield way (about 195 km from the Brisbane GPO via Mt Glorious, Kilcoy, Peachester and Beerwah).

START: For those who want to go the Westfield way and are not acquainted with getting to Mt Glorious, just follow Waterworks Road through the Gap where it becomes Mt Nebo Road and keep a close eye out for motorbikes. If you feel the need for a good breakfast it is suggested you visit the Mt Glorious Teahouse & Restaurant, (where all the bikers go for caffeine).

After leaving Mt Glorious keep winding west down the mountain (about 28km) to the T-junction and turn right for Somerset Dam along the eastern side of Lake Wivenhoe (about 26km).

From Somerset Dam head to Kilcoy (about 26 km) and then keep going east (about 21 km) to the left turn to Peachester and Beerwah (about 26 km) then turn right travelling south about 16 km to the Bruce Highway and a further 10 km before taking a left turn at the Bribie Island off ramp and a 1 km drive to Aerodrome Road on your left leading to the Museum.
